"The Stare's Nest by My Window" sets a William Butler Yeats poem by the same name. Yeats wrote this poem in response to the Irish Civil War, but his descriptions of political upheaval and senseless violence remain strikingly resonant to this day. While certainly a dark poem for a dark time, Yeats centers natural imagery to evoke a sense of hopeful renewal. Even when the world seems full of hate, we can look to natural world around us and feel grounded in the everyday processes that bind us together.
